Applications and building blocks that contribute to innovation and improvement of digital services for local authorities!

Aiden Connects Local Government!

Aiden develops applications for municipalities according to the 'Common Ground' principle of the VNG. Smart applications that connect seamlessly to municipal infrastructure and (national) basic facilities and meet the requirements and legislation and regulations set for municipal applications. Innovations and applications that have already been developed can be exchanged between municipalities as fixed building blocks. Aiden supports the municipality-specific integration and necessary adjustments so that building blocks developed by participating municipalities are adapted to municipality-specific processes. Aiden is also a partner for management and further development for municipalities that want to share innovations and apps more quickly through Low-Code in order to further improve internal services or services to residents and businesses.

From challenge to solution!

Municipalities are faced with the challenge of raising their services to a higher level at lower costs. The developments and the possibilities that IT offer are increasing at a rapid pace and with it the wishes of the internal organization, as well as the expectations of residents and companies. On the one hand, many investments have been made in the current infrastructure and application landscape, on the other hand the cloud offers many possibilities and new applications. All this must be implemented within the framework of legislation and regulations and in an accessible manner, taking into account national developments and collaborations with various parties in a complex information chain.

For this reason, municipalities are increasingly seeking collaboration to renew their digital services at the lowest possible cost. IT is put out to tender collectively and innovations are designed and developed in testing grounds through various partnerships. The Association of Dutch Municipalities (VNG) is a driving force when it comes to collaboration in the field of innovation and encourages municipalities to jointly develop smart innovations and share them collectively. Municipalities see the benefits of applications that are collectively developed using Low-Code because of the free access to use them.

Low-Code is a way of developing applications without using a programming language as has traditionally been done application development. This new way of developing is also known as modelling. This makes development accessible to everyone and gives organizations the opportunity to conceive, develop, use and optimize applications at lightning speed (up to 10x faster). This way of developing responds to the need for application development from the 'business' that is growing at least 5x faster than IT can deliver. Because it is possible to develop from different levels of an organization, IT and the business will work together much more and results will be achieved faster. It is not without reason that Gartner states that by 2024 more than 75% of applications will be built in low-code. Is it safe to say that low-code is the future?

Low-code at local governments

When it comes to developing and sharing new innovations, Low-Code is the most appropriate approach. Not only can prototypes of applications, mobile apps and smart services be realized in a short time, but collaboration and sharing are also closely intertwined in the Low-Code approach. Integrations with national facilities such as DigiD, eHerkenning, the system of basic registrations and other commonly used applications such as chatbots, payment platforms, digital counters and dynamic forms can be easily developed and quickly applied to suit. In this way, low-code fits in well with the ambitions that municipalities have agreed on 'massively digital, local customization'. A prime example of a municipality that has fully embraced low-code with Mendix is the Municipality of Rotterdam. In addition, there are several municipalities, cities and local authorities worldwide that see the future in Low-Code. Read here how they use Mendix (Low-Code)!
Mendix for Public
Together with Mendix, we connect the local authorities and contribute by means of Low-Code contributes every day to the renewal and improvement of digital services within the government. Based on the 'Common Ground' principle of the VNG, we create smart applications every day that meet the expectations of the internal organization, as well as the expectations of residents and companies. In this way, we ensure that these developments seamlessly match the ambitions that all municipalities have agreed on 'massively digital, local customization'!
01. Improved collaboration

Collaborate with other municipalities and create extra clout by realizing prototypes that come to life in your pilot or living lab.

02. Flexibility

Apply new innovations without adapting to your current infrastructure or application landscape. We connect to your existing business system or ERP environment.

03. Innovative capacity

Introduce new apps and innovations with technologies such as AI, IoT, VR, Blockchain and chatbots in a few weeks with Low-Code.

04. Cost reduction

Use existing innovations within the local government to achieve faster results at low costs. With Low-Code, municipalities are able to realize applications 10x faster.
