SAP Business One helps Bamigo with its international growth ambitions
Undergarment manufacturer Bamigo has outsourced its entire logistical order fulfillment, allowing it to focus on selling and marketing its products and further streamlining its organisation. Order processing is largely automated through SAP Business One. This ERP system is the source of all data within the company and is linked to 16 Magento web shops and external warehouses, among other connections.
‘This allows us to process large order quantities with only a few people and it makes us flexible and scalable going forward,’ states Freek Rijken, operations manager at Bamigo.
Explosive international growth
Although Bamigo does not make any statements about numbers, Rijken does want to say that the company is growing rapidly. At the time of writing (June 2020), Bamigo was running 16 web shops and was active in several countries, including the Netherlands and Germany.
‘We very much believe in automation as a success factor for being able to grow quickly. The operational aspect is not that interesting to us; that keeps you more focused on the “now”. For us, saving time and optimising our automation are key, for example by properly designing processes in the workplace. As a result, we see the rapid growth primarily reflected in our numbers, and not so much in our organisation on the back end,’ Rijken explains.
Bamigo has a business process that is typical for an online retailer. The web shop receives orders that are administratively processed in the back office. Based on a pick list, the items are collected in the warehouse, after which the delivery arrives at the customer via the carrier. Timely purchasing keeps the inventory at the right levels.
What is unique about the order process at Bamigo is that it is almost entirely automated. Orders in the Magento web shop automatically arrive in SAP Business One via the web shop link. Rijken says, ‘We chose SAP Business One at the time because of our major international ambitions to roll out Bamigo worldwide. SAP is ideally suited for this. The system can be customised and adapted to our specific needs. It can also handle large numbers of transactions, which is also true of Magento as an e-commerce platform. No matter how big we get, these systems can handle it.’
The synchronization of the 16 web shops with SAP Business One is done via Aiden’s standard web shop link. This transfers customer orders to SAP and updates information on inventory, order status and items from SAP in Magento.
‘We have short lines of communication with our regular point of contact for advice or just to discuss things. Aiden understands our business and can translate our needs into technical solutions that suit us and are future-proof. They understand our processes and provide both solicited and unsolicited advice. Such as when setting up our new warehouse in the UK,’
Aiden gives solicited and unsolicited advice
Rijken is pleased with the proactive attitude of implementation partner Aiden. ‘We have short lines of communication with our regular point of contact for advice or just to discuss things. Aiden understands our business and can translate our needs into technical solutions that suit us and are future-proof. They understand our processes and provide both solicited and unsolicited advice. Such as when setting up our new warehouse in the UK,’ says Rijken says.
