Overview

ILG Food Group successfully builds long-term relationships with buyers and manufacturers. Due to the rapidly growing demand from customers all over Europe, the company has grown from a 500 m2 hall at its start in May 1998 to a large 6,500 m2 new building location in Enschede. ILG Food Group can efficiently balance the growing demand with inventories because SAP specialist Aiden handles the processes.

With some 1800 products and a large number of trucks, ILG Food Group supplies catering companies throughout Europe from its distribution center in Enschede. Martin Doll of ILG, together with SAP specialist Aiden, has implemented several SAP projects to automate processes in the warehouse. "Without SAP Business One (SBO) and WarehousePro, we would not have been able to maintain as much control over the strong growth of our logistics processes. Automation is the only way for us to continue to grow. We started with vans, and our company has now expanded this to a large number of trucks."

Martin Doll continues: "With scanners, order pickers record which orders they have collected on the pallets. For example, with SBO and Warehouse Pro, we can track exactly which products are coming in and going out and keep our inventories to a minimum, while still always having enough on hand to serve our customers quickly. With batch orders, we can guarantee fast delivery times to our customers."

SAP stands for reliability worldwide

ILG chose SBO because of the reliability and robustness that have made SAP the global leader in ERP. "The prices of alternative ERP systems hardly differ," Doll states. We chose SAP primarily for its ability to improve the quality of our processes, its shorter training period for employees, and its ability to add options such as voice picking. With custom packages, employees don't have such a recognizable Windows screen, so it often takes up to a week for them to learn how to work with the system. With SBO, they can get to work after just one day. In addition, SAP works with specialized partners such as Asecom, so we can always hire external help for questions and projects."

Doll enjoys working with Aiden: "Thanks to our good contact with Aiden, we stay abreast of the latest technological developments. For example, in the future, we plan to expand the system with a voice-activated expansion kit so that employees in the warehouse can have their hands free when picking orders."
